Open to remote roles & contracts — starting now

Fifteen years of WordPress. I ship the whole product, not just the theme.

I'm Pasindu, a senior WordPress and front-end engineer in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I write custom themes and plugins in plain PHP and JavaScript — including AI features running on the Claude API in production — and I run five of my own sites end to end, from database schema to Core Web Vitals.

The first thing most overseas teams ask about is the time difference. So here it is, live, instead of buried in an email thread.

Calculated live from your browser clock — daylight saving included. I've been running a US Pacific client account on the extended window for over a year.

01 — Products I own and operate

Five live sites. I'm the whole team.

Every one of these is a custom theme plus custom plugins I wrote myself — no page builders, no bought templates. I do the schema design, the PHP, the front end, the SEO, the hosting and the support inbox. When something breaks at 2am, it’s my phone that buzzes.

Nutrition database & food tools

Custom theme plus a suite of six plugins. The headline feature is an AI meal-photo analyzer built on the Claude API, engineered to a hard cost ceiling per analysis with request logging and lead capture. Also built a gamified user dashboard (streaks, XP, missions, achievements) and a content audit tool that scores every post before publication.

Cricket guides & fantasy predictions

Two original plugins. CG Writer runs a scheduled publishing pipeline with affiliate and image injection from multiple stock APIs. CG Fantasy Predictor discovers upcoming matches through live web search, drafts previews, and pings IndexNow so pages are indexed within minutes of a fixture being announced.

Vermicomposting resource

Three interactive calculators — bin health checker, temperature safety, bedding ratio — each self-contained, dependency-free, and wired to FAQ schema so they earn rich results. The lead magnet is a 19-page PDF generated from HTML/CSS using CSS Paged Media for repeating footers and named page rules.

Learning games for neurodivergent kids

Browser games aimed at families supporting children with autism, ADHD and dyslexia — which makes accessibility a functional requirement, not a checklist. Theme built on pre-compiled Tailwind and Alpine.js so it ships without a build step on the server, plus a custom affiliates plugin with shortcodes and auto-insertion.

02 — Client work

Shipped for teams in the US, UAE, Australia and Sri Lanka.

Delivered remotely, across time zones, mostly as the only engineer on the project. Working with overseas clients isn't something I'd be adjusting to — it's how I already work.

All About Repair

Custom theme plus two original plugins. The booking system runs a three-step flow with Google Calendar sync, service-area validation by postcode, transparent trip-charge display, and a cron-driven email sequence for reminders and post-visit feedback. Then built a companion email marketing plugin — CSV import, HTML templates, batched campaign sending, open and click tracking, and compliant unsubscribe handling.

A complete theme built from scratch in plain PHP — no page builder anywhere in it — with five custom post types, a four-step AJAX booking flow, and every piece of content editable through the Customizer so the client never needs me for a copy change. Later re-localised the entire product for the Australian market: currency, service areas, phone formats, schema, and a new brand palette.

WooCommerce theme, plus a custom shipping-zone plugin that models real domestic and international courier tiers through the WooCommerce flat-rate API. Also built an abandoned-cart win-back email campaign and an AI product creator that drafts titles, descriptions and attributes — later generalised into a distributable plugin.

03 — How I build

Constraints are the interesting part.

Most of my work runs on shared hosting with tight limits and no deploy pipeline. That's shaped how I write code more than any framework has — and it's why my sites stay fast and my plugins keep working after I hand them over.

No build step on the server

Plain PHP, JavaScript and CSS that runs anywhere. Assets are cache-busted with file modification time, so a deploy is a file copy and nothing goes stale.

Work around the 60-second wall

Shared hosts kill long PHP processes. Bulk imports and AI generation run as chunked AJAX batches with resumable state, so a 5,000-row job finishes instead of timing out.

Automated quality gates

Every plugin passes php -l linting plus scripted audits I wrote for brace balance and class coverage before it goes near a live site.

AI that has a budget

Claude API features are built to a fixed cost per call, with logging, graceful degradation and hard caps. An AI feature that can't be forecast on a spreadsheet doesn't ship.

Core
PHP 8, WordPress (themes, plugins, CPTs, taxonomies, REST API, WP-Cron), WooCommerce, MySQL
Front end
JavaScript (vanilla-first), HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind, Alpine.js, React basics, responsive and accessible UI
AI
Anthropic Claude API — vision, structured JSON output, tool use, web search; prompt design and cost control
Also
Shopify, technical SEO and structured data, Core Web Vitals, Google Search Console, Git, Python for tooling
Languages
English (professional, written and spoken), Sinhala (native)

04 — Track record

Fifteen years, two chapters.

2021 — present

Founder & lead engineer, Trendlytik

My own studio. Client themes and plugins for businesses in the US, UAE, Australia and Sri Lanka, alongside building and operating my own portfolio of products. Everything from first call to deployment and ongoing support — including scoping, estimating and explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical owners.

2011 — 2021

Web developer, Cenango (Pvt) Ltd

Ten years of production WordPress and front-end work across a wide range of client industries. Where I learned to work inside legacy codebases, hand projects over cleanly, and write things a future maintainer can actually read.

05 — Next step

Looking for a remote role with a team overseas.

Full-time, contract, or trial project — whichever way your team prefers to start. I'm happy to do a paid test task. Relocation to the UAE is on the table, and I already overlap with most of Europe and the Gulf for a full working day.
